It is hard to believe that we are now in Term - how time flies when you are having fun (and working hard of course)!

This term we will be celebrating Burns’ Night, Valentine’s Day, Holi and Easter. Our topic is Caithness. P4D and P4P will be working together to organise a Bring and Buy Sale. We will also be focusing on:

-Consolidating the use of the four processes of number.
-Times tables up to 9.
-Multiply 2 digit numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10.
-Dividing by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 with remainders.
-Dividing by 6, 7, 8 and 9 within the tables.

-Telling the time on an analogue clock using minutes past and to.
-Read the time in hours and minutes on a digital clock.
-Use knowledge of time to plan and organise the day.
-Use 12 hr times for simple timetables.
-Record time using am and pm.
-Recognise there is a link between 12 and 24 hr clock.
-Use a calendar to identify days of the week and duration between dates.
-Know the different ways of recording dates.
-Calculate simple durations in hours.

Money (delivered through the Bring and Buy Sale)
-Adding and subtracting
-Profit and loss

Burns’ Night, Valentine’s Day, Easter and Caithness will form the basis for our Big Writing this term.

Reading will continue to take place on a Monday, Tuesday and a Thursday.

Alongside the weekly spelling words, each pupil has their own personal spelling challenge to work their way through.

PE will consist of Scottish Country Dancing until Burns’ Night, when we will then move on to gymnastics. We will still walk a mile on a Tuesday morning – remember and wrap up for this as the cold weather is now most definitely here!

In addition, we will be learning about medicines/first aid.

We are taking a cross curricular approach in French, learning how to ask for and give the time. We will also practise numbers, greetings, colours, body parts and animals.

RME/Technologies/Expressive Arts/Social Studies/Science

These will be taught via our continuing topic of Caithness, as well as through the other curricular areas.

Other Information

We are delighted to have Mrs Mill back with us at school. Mrs Mill will take the class on a Monday morning for spelling, handwriting, VCOP and some mental maths. Ms Hood will continue to take the class on a Wednesday.

Pennyland Runners is continuing this term – encourage your child to come if they do not attend already. The more the merrier!
