Making a Wormery 26 September 2013

Our writing lesson was on how to write instructions. As part of our science topic on Vertebrates and Invertebrates, we wanted to make a class wormery. The children had to watch the demonstration and then write down the different stages of the procedure. Worms like to live in damp and dark conditions. We made a wormery with lots of different layers including soil/compost, sand, yellow tunnelling material, white tunnelling material and topped it off with grass and leaves as a source of food. We hope to see the layers being mixed up as the worms get to work in their new home.
