Dear Parents and Pupils,
Welcome to the P4 class web page.
It was lovely meeting my new class on Tuesday. This week we are settling into a class routine and getting to know each other. I hope to have a class photo (weather dependent) by next week on the website.
Thank you for the prompt permission slip replies and termly bus travel money (£2 per term) for swimming. The children seem to be excited about this area of the curriculum.
Miss Findlay is our visiting PE specialist and the children will work with her twice on a Thursday. It is important that your child has a PE kit consisting of shorts, change of T-shirt. Every child must have indoor gym shoes. Jewellery is not permitted in any PE lesson. Thank you to the parents who have provided spare asthma inhalers for school use for their child's medical condition.
Mrs Mill will be teaching P4 French on a Monday afternoon
Homework will start properly next week. It is explained and handed out on a Monday, to be returned by a Friday. It will generally consist of spelling and maths to reinforce learning in class. I would appreciate if you would initial your child's completed homework.
Reading has been provisionally timetabled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. Again please initial your child's reading record. Even though your child has been given set pages in reading, could I please ask that you do not go beyond these pages as I sometimes set tasks for the next day such as "Can you predict what will happen next?" If a child has read on that planned task cannot be used. Encourage them to read their Accelerated Reader. Please remind your child to bring their Accelerated Reader and their reading pack to school every day.
This page will be updated shortly with useful information about your child's learning and there will also be links to useful maths pages and topic related web pages.
I look forward to meeting as many parents as possible at Meet the Teacher on Thursday 27 August between 6 and 7pm. If you are unable to attend, there will be information sheets sent home with your child on Friday 28 August.
If you have any concerns or wish to discuss anything with me, please drop me a note or contact the school secretary and I will be happy to talk to you by phone or arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time.
